How do I reserve a bike or tour?

You can reach out to us directly via WhatsApp (preferred), Facebook Messenger, Instagram, or by visiting our shop in person. We will verify availability and finalize your reservation once full payment is received.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept local GTQ bank transfers, credit/debit cards, and cash in Guatemalan Quetzales (GTQ). For reservations made well in advance, we also accept international transfers (via Remitly, SWIFT, etc.).

Is a deposit required to secure a booking?

Accepted Answer

Yes, to lock in your reservation and secure your bikes or guide, a deposit is required prior to the activity or rental date.

What happens after my reservation is confirmed?

Once payment is complete, we’ll send you a final confirmation with the agreed date, time, and meeting point. On the day of your booking, simply show up at our shop or designated pickup location, and you’ll be all set to go!

What equipment is included with my rental?

Every rental includes a bicycle and a protective helmet. Upon request, we can also equip you with a water bottle, bike lock, or a compact repair kit at no extra charge.

What rental options and duration rates do you offer?

We offer hourly, half-day (up to 4 hours), and full-day (4+ hours until shop closing) rentals. Need extra time? Just message us on WhatsApp! If the bike isn't reserved by someone else, you can extend your rental and pay the difference upon return. Please note that unannounced late returns are charged at an hourly rate.

Is a security deposit required for bike rentals?

No cash deposit is required. We only ask to verify a valid official ID (Passport for international travelers or DPI for Guatemalan citizens) and retain a photograph of it. You may choose to keep your physical document with you or store it securely in our shop during your ride.

What should I do if I have a mechanical problem during my ride?

If you know basic bike maintenance, we can provide a small repair kit before you leave. If you experience a breakdown on the road, contact us immediately on WhatsApp, we will come to repair your bike or bring a replacement. If you are outside our service area, we can coordinate and arrange pickup transport for you and the bike.

What types of bikes do you have?

We offer hardtail MTBs in varying sizes, which are lightweight and excellent for exploring local trails or taking longer rides. We also have balance bikes for small children to ride around in the park at the center of the island.

What language options are available for the guided tours?

All tours are available with a guide who speaks English, Spanish, or Dutch.

What should I wear or bring to the tour?

Accepted Answer

You should bring sun protection, bug spray, closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothing, and extra hydration if necessary.

How do I navigate the routes?

We use the Komoot app for all our routes. Simply download the free app to your smartphone, create an account, and open the route link we send you on WhatsApp to start turn-by-turn navigation. If you prefer using a bike computer or a different app, just let us know and we can send you the GPX file instead.

Are the routes safe to ride solo?

Yes, all the routes we share take place in safe areas. However, you should always stay aware of traffic, especially on busier paved sections. We also recommend carrying a fully charged phone with you so you can call for assistance in case of a mechanical issue, medical emergency, or unexpected exhaustion.

Do we have to follow one of these routes when renting a bike with you?

No, these routes are just recommendations to help you explore the best spots in the area. You are completely free to ride wherever you like. All we ask is that you return the bike on time and in the same condition you received it, accounting for normal wear and tear and a bit of jungle mud.

Do I need mobile data while out on the trail?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you navigate using the Komoot app on your phone, you will need active mobile data to load the map along the way. Offline map downloads in Komoot require their paid subscription. If you do not have a local data plan, let us know beforehand and we can provide the GPX file for offline use in free apps like Organic Maps.

What happens if it rains or there is bad weather?

If severe or dangerous weather conditions make riding unsafe, we will offer to reschedule your session or issue a full refund.

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Cancellations made at least 48 hours before your scheduled rental or tour time receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of your booking are non-refundable.

Question 18

What happens if I arrive late for my rental?

Accepted Answer

Your rental period begins at the scheduled time. If you arrive late and we have another booking for that bike later in the day, your rental time cannot be extended. However, if our schedule allows, we will do our best to adjust your window so you get your full rental time.
